Project Overview
Owned by Lee Memorial Health Systems, Gulf Coast Hospital is located in Fort Myers, Florida, on the Gulf of Mexico. In late 2005, LMHS broke ground for a 400,000-square-foot addition. The project included a new emergency room, 22 operating rooms, 229 private patient rooms, 26 ICU rooms, six X-Ray rooms, three CT Rooms, three cath labs, two angiography rooms, one MRI room, and a large central plant that contains three 2,000-kW generators with 19 automatic transfer switches. The contract value was $21,321,000. The hospital had been constructed with provisions for a three-floor expansion in the future.
Enterprise Solutions started work in early 2006. When the hospital opened in March 2009, over 200,000 man-hours had been invested in the project. The workforce for the project was comprised mainly of local workers from the Southwest Florida area and headed by a group of veteran Enterprise Solutions employees with more than 75 years of combined experience in the construction of hospitals.
